LOCATION: The
area immediately to the south of downtown Tulsa is referred to as Uptown.
This area has homes, condominiums and apartments on the bluff above the
Arkansas River. Riverview Tulsa is bordered by the Arkansas River and
Riverparks to the west, Maple Ridge Park to the east, Veterans Park to the
south, and Historic Route 66 to the north.
TRANSPORTATION & ACCESS: Highways come together around the Inner
Disbursal Loop giving super easy access to I-44, I-244, US-75, Broken Arrow
Expressway (US-51 & US-64). City Bus service travels along Denver, Boulder,
and Boston connecting to the Downtown Bus Transfer Hub at Denver and
4th. The Riverview area is within WALKING DISTANCE of the Tulsa Community
College Metro Campus, the BOK Arena and the Convention Center as well as the
main City/County Library, main Post Office and Federal Courts on Denver.
FITNESS: Stay physically fit at gyms which include TCC (enroll as a
student for 1 credit to be eligible to use it for free), the First Methodist
Family Center which has a full gym and is open to the public (best value for
membership in Tulsa!!!), Centennial Park (Senior Center at 6th and Peoria)
as well as private training facilities. Only minutes to the very popular
Sigfried Health Center at St. John and YWCA (with pool at 21st and Lewis).
Walking to the new downtown YMCA at 5th and Main can be the warm-up for your
fitness routine (about a mile).
HEALTHCARE is abundant: OSU-Tulsa Medical Center (hospital and trauma
center) is our neighbor and it is under 3 miles to Hillcrest Hospital and
St. John Hospital. |
ENTERTAINMENT is centered in the South Boston District (SOBO) of
Uptown with high-quality clubs and restaurants. All are under a 10 minute
drive (and most are under a 20 minute walk): Cherry Street restaurants are
under a mile and Brookside is 3 miles. The downtown Bluedome entertainment
district (2nd the Elgin) is only minutes away as is the Brady District.
Premier shopping and dining is as close as Utica Square (3 miles).
ATTRACTIONS include Council Oak Park and Stickball Park with unique
bronze statues. Under three miles to the Garden Center with rose
garden, Woodward Park, and Tulsa Historical Society. The original
Route 66 bridge is at Riverside and the River. The Spotlight Theatre
presents the Drunkard and Olio every Saturday. The new Ball Park and
BOK Center.
RECREATION includes the city parks with playgrounds, walking and
biking trails: Riverparks, Veterans Park, Stickball Park, The Council Oak.
ANNUAL EVENTS feature two Route 66 Marathons, Criterion (bicycles),
and Tulsa Run. Riverparks events you will not want to miss include
Oktoberfest.
WORSHIP: Greek Orthodox, Unity Church of Christ, Methodist, Christ
Science, Christian, Presbyterian, Baptist, Episcopalian all close by. |
